Dear Linda
Our course has very large clumps of gorse which have an
uncanny knack of attracting balls. If everyone in our group is 100% a ball went
into a certain clump, but it cannot be seen or identified, is the hitter's
only option to go back to the point where the ball was last played?
Lou from Bridgend, Wales
Dear Lou,
Yes. This is a lost ball. Gorse is no different from fescue,
gnarly rough, prickly shrubs, or trees. Balls do have a penchant for getting
lost in such inhospitable places. If you can’t find and identify it, your only
option is to play another ball from spot where you last played the original
ball.
