Linda,
On our 10th hole, cracks have developed in the fairway was a
result of the very hot weather. It is now possible to hit your best drive but
end up in a hole in one of the cracks and unable to play your second shot. What
is the ruling please?
Lou from Basingstoke, UK
Dear Lou,
The Rules do not provide relief for cracks in the earth due
to hot and dry conditions. However, the Committee would be permitted to adopt a
Local Rule declaring such cracks to be ground under repair, which would give
the players free relief [Decision 25/12].
