Linda, we have an unusual situation at our course. One of
the holes on the course is a par 5 for men and a par 4 for women. This is due
to the placement of the women's tees – the hole is dramatically shorter for
women. Our problem is, when we are playing a match play event and the woman
scores a par and the man scores a par, who wins the hole? Assuming no strokes.
Lou from Massachusetts
Dear Lou,
That is a somewhat unusual situation. I have encountered
holes where the par is higher for the women than the men, but not the reverse.
Match play is decided by the score on each hole. If the man
scores 5, and the woman scores 4, the woman wins the hole.
