Hi Linda,
Thanks so much for your wonderful blog and crisp clear
answers. You helped me extensively a few months ago and I have recommended you
to everyone I meet who is interested.
Today's question:
My partner, playing stroke play, hit her ball in a bunker
with steep sides. The ball rebounded and accidentally hit against her little
finger before landing further back in the bunker. Does she incur a 2-shot
penalty? Is this the same as hitting one's own golf trolley or bag and is it a
2-shot penalty?
Thanks again for all your help.
Lou from Wales
Dear Lou,
When a player’s ball is accidentally deflected off her own
body, the penalty is one stroke and
she must play the ball as it lies [Rule 19-2]. The ruling is the same if the
ball hits her own equipment.
