Ask Linda #571-Acorns embedded in green

Dear Linda,
There is a green at my course where acorns fall onto it and become partially embedded in the ground. Are we allowed to remove them before putting?
Lulu

Dear Lulu,

If you can pick them up with your fingers with relative ease, they are loose impediments, and you are permitted to remove them. If you have to pull out your divot tool to dig them out of the ground, they are solidly embedded and do not qualify as loose impediments [Decision 23/2].
