Dear Linda,
We had a stableford competition in our club and
unfortunately one lady had 2 caddies for two holes. She then realised that she
was breaking a golf rule and went back to one caddy.
She did not score any stableford points on those two holes
so we on the committee wondered how to impose the penalty of 4 strokes.
Was she just lucky and her score remains the same.
Or -- do we take 4 strokes off her total score -- even
though she didn't score points when she had the two caddies.
I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks,
Lulu from N. Ireland
Dear Lulu,
Rule 6-4 limits players to one caddie at a time. If you look
under 6-4 at the penalty for a breach of this Rule, you will see that you must
refer to Note 1 to Rule 32-1b to find the penalty in a Stableford competition.
The Note in Rule 32 will tell you to deduct two points for each hole at which
the breach occurred (maximum of four points) from the total points the player
scored for the round.
This player will lose four Stableford points from her total.
Linda
