Linda, if your ball ends up on a green which is not the
green for the hole you are playing, what is the ruling? I would assume
that the course does not want you playing a full shot from a green, but if you are
entitled to a free drop, how do you best determine the area in which to drop?
Thanks,
Lou from Texas
Dear Lou,
When a player hits a ball onto the wrong putting green, he
is not permitted to play the ball as
it lies. He must take relief, and there
is no penalty attached. He must find the nearest point of relief, no closer to
the hole, that is not in a hazard. He will drop within one club-length of that
point [Rule 25-3b].
