Linda, last year in the Argentinian Golf Open, I saw Angel
Cabrera in several greens, clean the sand of the surface with the palm of his
hand.
I always understand that this procedure was not allowed for
being a way to test the surface of the green. Would you please tell me if some
change in the rules now allow the golfers to use the palm of the hand to remove
loose impediments?

Dear Lou,
There is no prohibition against brushing away loose
impediments with the palm of your hand, provided you do not press anything down
and do not test the surface of the green [Decision 16-1a/9].
