If a ball is imbedded on the putting surface, does the
player get to mark the ball, repair the embedded mark and then replace the
ball, or do they find a nearest point of relief? thanks, Lulu
Dear Lulu,
Players are entitled to repair damage to the green caused by
the impact of a ball [Rule 16-1c]. An embedded ball falls into this category.
Accordingly, you will mark, lift, repair, and replace the ball on the spot
where it embedded.
