Ask Linda #1496-Remove another player’s ball from hole
During a tournament, I was holding the flag while the other player was doing a putt shot from a very long distance. He successfully closed the hole with that long putt. I decided to take his ball out of the hole to speed up the game, allowing the other players to play.
Is there any penalty for this?
Thanks in advance for your kind reply.

No penalty. A ball is no longer in play once it is holed [Definition of “Ball in Play”]. Anyone may remove it from the hole.
