Ciao Linda,
During a tournament, I was holding the flag while the other
player was doing a putt shot from a very long distance. He successfully closed
the hole with that long putt. I decided to take his ball out of the hole to
speed up the game, allowing the other players to play.
Is there any penalty for this?

Dear Lou,
No penalty. A ball is no longer in play once it is holed
[Definition of “Ball in Play”]. Anyone may remove it from the hole.
