Ask Linda #649a-Balls exchanged in match play

Linda, what would happen to the players in Ask Linda #649-Hit wrong ball multiple times in match play?
Lou from Texas

Dear Lou,

If opponents inadvertently exchange balls during the play of a hole, the first player who hit the wrong ball loses the hole. If they cannot figure out which player hit the wrong ball first, they will complete play of the hole with the balls exchanged, no penalty [Rule 15-3a].
