Hi Linda,
If I am dormie and have 2 putts to win a match and my
opponent concedes, have I won by the number of holes I was dormie or by one
more?
Lou from Dublin, Ireland
Dear Lou,
You have won by one more, Lou.
Let’s say you are playing a match and you are 2-up with two
holes left to play, meaning you are now dormie. Your opponent struggles on the
next hole, and when the two of you reach the green he concedes the hole. You
are now 3-up with only one hole remaining to play, so you have won the match 3
and 1.
The match was not won when you were 2-up, so 2-up does not
correctly reflect the score of the match. You did not win until the succeeding
hole was conceded, at which time the score became 3 and 1 and the match was
over. Every hole that is conceded must become part of your score.
Linda
