Ask Linda #966-Spanish Moss

Linda, I might be stepping outside your area of expertise, but I have a question regarding Spanish Moss.
We are Canadian Snowbirds playing in Central Florida where Spanish Moss hangs from many of the trees.
If the Moss - and not a tree branch - interferes with your swing, can you treat it as a movable or immovable obstruction or is it considered to be part of the tree?
Thank you
Lou from Ontario, Canada

Dear Lou,

Spanish Moss is a plant that grows on the tree. You may not treat Spanish Moss as an obstruction – obstructions, by Definition, are artificial. You may not move any plants out of your way.
