Decision 20-1/17 says that a ball played deflected by a tee
used by another player to mark his ball on the green must be played as it lies.
In the case where the ball is played from the green, is it always a rub of the
green or must the stroke be cancelled and replayed?
Thanks for your reply.
Enjoy the day,
Lou from Belgium
Dear Lou,
A ball that deflects off a tee used by another person to
mark his ball is always a rub of the green. The ball must be played as it lies.
While it is not recommended that a tee be used to mark a
ball on the green, it is not against the Rules [Decision 20-1/16]. If another
player suspects the tee will interfere with his putt, he may ask that the
player move the tee one or more clubhead-lengths to the side or replace the tee
with a small coin.
